As you all know my town is a literal giant fireball. Today is day four of the fires, and today it was declared a federal disaster. I haven't had to work a single day this week, (that's not a complaint on my part.) What started out as the faint smell of firewood on sunday afternoon has turned into this insane fire you all see on tv.
It's pretty messed up, a few of my co workers were evacuated from their homes, In fact a staggering 500,000 peeps were evacuated from their homes. Thats a little under half the population of the entire City of San Diego. Crazy shit right? Anywho, I set out with my trusty ol Canon to take some shots of from around town during this event. Those who know me will tell you that I am a damn fool, but not foolish enough to get up in the fires path for a picture or two.
These are just pics of the smoke and ash filled sky near the downtown area, taken from my girlfriend's front yard and down at the harbor. The time of these shots was somewhere between 3:30 and 5 pm, you can get a clue as to what the air quality was by the tint of the sky. Many peeps were wearing bandanas or breathing masks.
It's pretty amazing how the city has come together during this event, people have really looked out for one another, strangers and all.
